Stanton-Under-Bardon
Village Hall

First Site Viewing

3/25/2015

Members of the Village Hall Trust made their first site inspection of the new village hall on Wednesday 18th March. Progress is slow but steady and it was possible to see the size of the various rooms and storage places. The interior of the hall is undergoing wiring and pipework installation and the main hall is plastered. We are still no nearer to obtaining a firm handover date but we remain hopeful that this will be around June. Obviously, we will publish the date as soon as the builders confirm it and we will also publish our final plans for the opening ceremony.

In the meantime, our outline plans for the opening day are based upon a ‘country village’ theme and we invite you to submit your ideas to us for consideration. We are interested in hearing from individuals and groups who can perform some type of entertainment feature or demonstrate craft skills, art, face painting or any activity suitable for a general audience including children. We intend to invite Stanton-under-Bardon village school to arrange for their pupils be involved in an activity of their choice and we hope to provide a range of amusements throughout the day and evening. Food will be available including, we hope, a hog roast. We shall certainly require helpers to carry out various duties at the event so, if you would be prepared to lend a hand, if only for an hour or so, please contact us!

THIS IS YOUR HALL! PLEASE BE ASSOCIATED WITH IT FROM THE START!

The Current Situation

As the construction of our village hall enters its final phase, the Stanton-under-Bardon Village Hall Trust is carrying out all the necessary preparation work to ensure that the opening of the hall for use is as seamless and straightforward as possible. The Trustees are currently identifying essential requirements and equipment for the hall and preparing to obtain quotations to put before the Parish Council, who are sponsoring the scheme and who are the ultimate owners of the hall. We need to be in a position to order all this material as soon as the hall is formally handed over to us by the builders. Obviously, there are many other considerations which the Trust are investigating e.g. insurance and licensing requirements; in short, a great deal of work is being done ‘behind the scenes’ to enable us to open the hall for use in late spring/early summer. Please keep in touch with us via this website or via our Facebook account for regular updates on progress.

Business Sponsorship

The Trust has contacted many local businesses to appeal for sponsorship and donations to provide additional funds to those provided by the Parish Council. To date, we have received a very generous donation of £500 from Midland Quarry Products at Bardon. We remain hopeful that other companies may also respond in a positive way.

Application to the Parish & Communities Initiative Fund

The Trust has applied to the Parish and Communities Initiative fund for a financial contribution towards several essential items of capital equipment which are required to enable us to open the hall on time. The Trust will use its entitlement as a registered charity to enable it to apply for grants from public and private bodies whenever this is deemed appropriate in order to help maintain a high standard of equipment in the hall.
